1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Use are the agreement between you and Hivee LLC ("Hivee", "we", "us") covering the Hivee mobile apps, the web app at app-hivee.web.app, and everything in them. By creating an account or using Hivee, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use Hivee.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information and forms part of this agreement.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live.
- Give accurate information when you sign up and keep it current.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password to yourself.
- Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you think someone else has access.
- One account per person. Club seats are issued to named individuals and are not shared.
3. Plans, billing and cancellation
What's free
Logging is always free. Your inspections, treatments, harvests, photos and hives go in without paying, and nothing you have logged is ever held hostage. The free plan has limits on hive count, photo count per inspection, monthly Ask Hivee questions, and access to earlier seasons — those limits are described in the app and on our pricing page.
Paid plans
- Hivee+ and Hivee Pro are auto-renewing subscriptions billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, at the prices shown at purchase.
- Free trial lengths are shown at purchase. If you do not cancel before a trial ends, the subscription starts and bills.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings — we cannot cancel a store subscription for you.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, not by us.
- Hivee for Clubs is billed directly by us on an annual invoice. Club terms, seat counts and renewal are set out in that invoice.
- Founding-member pricing, where offered, holds for as long as the subscription stays continuously active. Let it lapse and the rate is gone.
- We may change prices for future billing periods. If we do, you will be told before it takes effect and can cancel.
If you stop paying
Your records stay yours. You keep read access to what you have logged and can export it. New entries return to free-plan limits.
4. Your content
You own your records. Your hives, inspections, notes, photos and harvest data are yours, and nothing here transfers ownership to us.
To run the service, you give us a limited licence to store, copy, transmit, back up and display your content — for the sole purpose of providing Hivee to you and anyone you have deliberately shared with. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies sitting in routine backups until they roll off.
Anything you post publicly in The Hive can be seen and shared by other users. Post accordingly.
5. Ask Hivee and guidance
- AI answers can be wrong or incomplete. Verify anything that matters before acting on it.
- Decisions about treatments, medications, disease reporting and honey sold for human consumption are yours, and must follow the laws and label directions where you keep bees.
- If a notifiable disease is suspected, contact your state or national bee inspector. Hivee does not report on your behalf.
- Mentor connections put you in touch with other beekeepers who volunteered to answer questions. They are not our employees or agents, and we do not guarantee their advice.
- Ask Hivee usage limits are per plan and reset monthly. Photo and note recognition consume more than a text question, as described in the app.
6. Acceptable use
Don't do any of this:
- Break the law, or use Hivee to help someone else break it.
- Upload anything you don't have the right to upload, or anything unlawful, harassing, hateful or deliberately misleading.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or try to extract our source code or another user's data.
- Resell, sublicense or share access to a paid plan outside a club seat properly issued to you.
- Interfere with the service, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, or overload it with automated requests.
- Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your affiliation with a club or organisation.
Found a security issue? Email [email protected] before disclosing it anywhere else. We will work with you.
7. The Hive community
The Hive is a shared feed for beekeepers. Keep it useful: no spam, no advertising other products, no abuse of other keepers, no medical or treatment advice presented as fact when it is opinion. We can remove any post and suspend any account for breaking these rules, and we do not owe you an explanation beyond a fair one.
8. Availability, changes and features in development
- Hivee is a live product still being built. Features described as "coming with V2" or "after V2" are in development, are not part of what you are buying today, and their timing can move.
- We may add, change or remove features. If we remove something material from a paid plan you are actively paying for, we will tell you and you can cancel.
- We aim for the service to be available continuously but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Maintenance, outages at our providers, and your own connectivity all affect it.
- The app works offline and syncs when you reconnect. Records created offline are stored on your device until sync — keep the app installed until it has synced.
9. Third-party services
Hivee relies on services we don't control — Apple, Google, our hosting and storage provider, our AI provider, and a weather data provider. Your use of the app stores is also governed by their terms. We are not responsible for those services' acts or omissions, and this agreement gives you no rights against them.
10. Disclaimers
Hivee is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, accurate, or that guidance produced by it will be correct.
We do not warrant that using Hivee will keep colonies alive, prevent losses, satisfy any inspection or regulatory requirement, or improve yields. Beekeeping outcomes depend on many things outside an app.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, neither we nor our suppliers are liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost colonies, lost honey, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of Hivee — even if we were told such damages were possible.
Our total liability for any claim relating to Hivee is limited to the greater of USD 100 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hivee, Hivee LLC, and our officers, employees and contractors from any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your content, your use of Hivee, or your breach of these terms or of any law.
13. Suspension and termination
- You can stop using Hivee at any time and delete your account from account settings.
- We can suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, creates risk for other users, or is used fraudulently.
- If we terminate your account without cause, we will refund any prepaid amount covering the unused period of a subscription billed directly by us.
- Sections that by their nature should survive — ownership, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, governing law — survive termination.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Hall County, Georgia, and you and we each consent to that jurisdiction.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect and update the date at the top. Using Hivee after that means you accept the new version. If you don't, stop using the service and cancel any subscription.
